Tree work in Golden Bay
Golden Bay is a coastal suburb south of Secret Harbour, mostly made up of newer estates on dune sand close to the beach. The gardens are usually compact, and the trees in them were often planted when the houses were built. Many of those trees are now at the size where they start to cause problems: shading the yard, crowding the roof, dropping leaves in the pool and lifting paving with their roots.
We arrange tree lopping, tree removal, stump grinding, stump removal, palm tree removal and bamboo removal in Golden Bay, quoted on site by independent local contractors.
Small yards, tight access
The main challenge in Golden Bay is access. Many homes have narrow side gates, small backyards and neighbours on three sides. Trees are usually reduced or removed by a climber working in sections, with each piece lowered on ropes. Branches are carried to the front for chipping. A compact stump grinder can usually get through a standard gate.
When you call, measure the narrowest point of the access and mention steps, retaining walls or a pool in the path. It helps the contractor bring the right equipment.
Salt, sand and fast growth
Golden Bay is open to the afternoon sea breeze, which burns the seaward side of canopies and leaves trees lopsided. At the same time, garden watering on sandy soil makes many species grow fast. The combination produces trees that are big for their age, heavy on the sheltered side and shallow-rooted. Reducing the heavy side and removing deadwood is a common recommendation.
Choosing what to plant next
If a tree is removed, think about the replacement. Check the mature size against the distance to the house, pool and fences, and pick something that copes with sand and salt. The coastal trees guide has more on local species.
Getting a quote
Call (08) 9515 3848 or send the form with photos of the tree and the side access. Planning prices are on the cost guide.
Roots and paving
In loose sand, roots from trees planted close to paths and driveways often travel just under the pavers and lift them. Cutting those roots can destabilise the tree, so it is worth getting advice before you or a paver start digging. If the tree is coming out anyway, ask for the stump and main surface roots to be dealt with at the same time so the paving can be relaid flat.
What to send with your Golden Bay enquiry
A photo of the whole tree, a close photo of the base of the trunk, and one of the route the crew would take from the street. Add the street name, the rough height of the tree, and anything below it that needs protecting, such as a roof, pool, shed or garden bed. With that, the contractor can plan the visit properly and the written quote is usually quicker to arrive.
